Few mediums allow you to be as free and spontaneous as pastel. Because it is essentially pure pigment that you apply directly to the paper, you can achieve luminosity and texture in your paintings. Pastel can be beautifully and easily used to render light and color in every subject and style. Elements of design with emphasis on color, value, and composition will be included along with the basic fundamentals of pastel painting. Students do not need prior pastel or drawing experience. All levels are welcome. The class is Wednesday and Thursday July 27th and 28th from 10am-2:30PM. Taught by Lori Jeremiah.

Rocky shores, crashing waves, waterfalls, sunlit paths and beautiful faces…the possibilities for artistic inspiration in nature are endless. Striving to paint the surrounding beauty is never ending and always challenging. The sparkle of light, the lively shadows, the quiet mood all last but a moment in time but can last indefinitely in a painting.
I strive to capture those fleeting moments, often brief and unexpected, in my paintings. Pastel and watercolor are the mediums that I use to convey this personal vision. I hope that my paintings are like a glance that beckons you to stop and linger for a moment. -Lori
