Poppy Champlin is a veteran comedian. Graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a BFA in theatre, she started to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. She went to the Famed Chicago Second City Improv School and studied there for a year as well as taking advantage of the hot standup comedy scene in Chicago. Poppy worked her way up the chain in all the Chicago clubs, as well as suburbs until she was a headliner. She put over 250,000 road miles on her car, and won a comedy contests on the Joan Rivers Show where she was awarded the prize of being “America’s Funniest Real Woman “.
Poppy has opened for such comics as Ray Ramano, Denis Leary, Bill Maher, Bill Hicks and Rosie O’Donnell. Her club appearances are many ranging from Gotham Comedy Club in NYC the Comedy Cellar and The Improvs. She Produces her own touring show called The Queer Queens of Qomedy and travels across the country with this. She also performs on cruise ships.
When Poppy hit tinsel town, she continued to perform stand-up as well as study acting at the Larry Moss studios and has since put up her critically acclaimed One Woman Show, “A Chocolate Sandwich.” Most recently Poppy had a feature role in “Titanic The Musical” at the Courthouse Center for The Performing Arts in Kingston R.I.
