The Courthouse Center for the Arts will be presenting an open self-defense class on Thursday nights. It will focus on simple strategies and techniques to evade and protect yourself from danger. The instructor Vincent Carlone has been a police officer for 40 years and holds a black belt in Karate. He has witnessed and researched the psychology of violence and has a firsthand understanding of violent encounters.
Mr. Carlone also trained at the Behavioral Science Unit headquarter in Quantico Virginia at the United States Marine Corps base and FBI Academy. As a result, this is unlike any other women’s self-defense course, as his experience allows him to bring real life into the classroom. There will be three sessions of 1.5-hour classes, students should wear clothing best suited for physical activity, and minimum age is 14 years old.
” Every woman in this day and age needs to understand the simple principles of protecting themselves and children from dangerous, violent people; who exist amongst us in all walks of life.” – Vincent T. Carlone
The first session is already filled, and the second session dates will be posted soon for February.
