Come view the works of local artist, Eric Lutes. You’ll gaze at ocean scenes and feel the beauty of Rhode Island Beaches, along with shellfish and landscape. Delight in the calmness of the sailboats floating by or the distant scene of waves softly rolling to shore with Block Island peeking in from behind them. A beautiful sunny day with a crisp aqua green wave crashing on the shore where you know you’ve jumped in there before or sat and read a book as you relaxed in that very same spot. Would you love one of these amazing pieces in your home? Eric will be here to tell tales of how the paintings came to be. Meet the man himself. Rhode Island Native, Artist, Actor, Sitcom Star, movie man and Friend to the Rhode Island community, Eric has given back in so many ways. Come join Eric for this wonderful showing of new pieces.
No RSVP needed. Just arrive with a smile and enjoy.

A native of Charlestown and alum of URI, Eric Lute’s love for the waters of Narragansett Bay are reflected in his work. From the colorful and various sea shells to the dory’s and sailboats and seascapes he paints. Most widely known as an actor on primetime television in such leading roles as Del Cassidy on Caroline in the City, Tom Duran on Frasier , Jake Carlson, father to the Olsen twins on So Little Time, and most recently opposite fellow Rhode Islander, Viola Davis, in How To Get Away With Murder. Eric’s true love and passion has always been painting. Son of the well-known marine artist, John D. Lutes, Eric was raised in an art-centric home and actually apprenticed under his father who taught him much of his technique. Eric has his own distinctive style, but you can see his father’s influence in his work. Eric is a senior fellow of the Coastal Institute where many of his pieces can be seen. You can also find his work hanging at the Matunuck Oyster Bar, the Inspire Medical Spa, and the Charlestown Art Gallery in Charlestown, RI. Reproductions of Eric’s work can be found in The Home Goods store, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls. Eric is thrilled to return to Rhode Island to show his work at the Courthouse Center for the Arts and believes strongly in the importance of all forms of art in our culture. He is delighted to live in a state that has so many talented artists, actors and musicians.  Hoping you’ll join us and he’ll get to meet you.
